LEARN TO GAME 2024 IS SOLD OUT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The LTG program is open to skaters age 7-16 who have completed at least one LTP session and are competent players ready to start playing games in a fun, non-competitive environment.

The program is intended to give newer players an opportunity to practice and play games at a lower cost and commitment than the official teams.

Each ice session will start with 10-20 minutes of skills practice, followed by scrimmaging for the remainder of the hour.  This in a house program so there is no travel or playing teams outside of the program.

We will have 16 practices from Oct though March. We will practice at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena on Sundays from 6-7:00pm

EQUIPMENT

Full hockey gear is required to participate in LTG.

WSYHA rents equipment to participants who do not have their own. Our equipment includes a helmet, neck guard shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, shin pads and a jersey. Equipment rentals are provided on a first come first served basis.

We have limited quantities of sticks and skates that can be  included in the rental provided we have the correct size.

Good-fitting, quality skates can make a huge difference in your child’s enjoyment, so we strongly encourage all skaters to purchase their own pair.

COACHES

Our hockey program is dependent parent involvement. Your efforts make our program possible so please consider becoming an on-ice coach or helper or an off-ice volunteer. If you are interested in helping, please clicking the link at the bottom of this page. Coaches will receive a Jacket and a discount on their player's registration.

COSTS

The 16 session season costs $220 per player. There is also a once-a-year USA Hockey fee of about $50 which varies by age.

Equipment rental package costs $50 plus a $100 deposit ($150 total). The $100 deposit will be refunded when you return the equipment. Please note that skates are NOT guaranteed and are included based on our available inventory.  We strongly recommend that you purchase your own hockey skates.

Coaching Interest Form

This season we will have formal applications for head coach positions. If you indicated that you'd like to be considered for a head coach position, we will reach out shortly.

A few points to keep in mind:

  • Filling out this survey does not guarantee a head or assistant coaching position. We are using feedback from this survey to set up each team with appropriate head/assistant coaches.
  • We do not know what the schedule for next year will look like and cannot guarantee that practices will be on any particular day. We are using this survey along with parent/player feedback and ice availability to determine practice times, location, date, etc.
  • All coaches and volunteers are required to be registered with USAH and complete SafeSport and a background check. If you have not yet done this, the organization can help you with this process but adults are not allowed on the ice until these requirements are completed.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please reach out to Co-Directors: Kylie Roy (kylies335@gmail.com) or Josh Zavitz (zavineli007@gmail.com).

Thank you for your support helping to grow girls hockey in the Triad!
