ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Sled hockey follows most of the typical ice hockey rules except for some equipment. Players sit in specially designed sleds that sit on two hockey skate blades. There are two sticks for each player instead of one and the sticks have metal spikes sown into the butt end for players to propel themselves.

OUR GOAL

To provide individuals with limited mobility or a similar disability a fun, safe and affordable environment to play hockey. To promote skill development, enjoyment, fitness, friendship, sportsmanship and personal improvement among its players, coaches and volunteers.

COACHES

Our program is dependent on volunteers. Your efforts make our program possible, so please consider becoming an on-ice coach or helper or an off-ice volunteer. If you are interested in helping, please contact Marianne at the sled hockey link at the bottom of the page.

EQUIPMENT

Sleds and sticks are available at no charge for use during practice or games.

Each player must have full protective gear to participate in the program. This includes shin pads, shoulder pads, elbow pads, neck guard, mouth guard and helmet with cage (not expired.)

WSYHA provides most equipment as available.
